2003/4 Challenge - "Long & Thin"
The original idea for this challenge was to create a wall-hanging that was long and thin. A theme was chosen by each "Witch" for her hanging and the different pieces were to be assembled one above the other. As the project developed it became necessary to modify this idea and some pieces ended up side- by-side as well as some above/below others. In the case of the hangings by Julia, Terry and Maryel, the finished length would have been incredibly long had all been in line. Lee wanted her "leaves" to appear to be falling from trees so her background was made of clear plastic.
These quilts were entered into the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in 2004.
