Julia Gahagan
Membership of Stitch Witches has helped me develop as a quilter,
learning
new techniques and design ideas from my fellow group members. I particularly enjoy miniature quilt making and
country style
patchwork. Through the Stitch Witch challenges I have made a series of more contemporary quilts themed around
Mediterranean
architecture and history. A very demanding full time job restricts the time I have to sew but a Stitch Witch
challenge each year,
with agreed deadlines, forces me to get the sewing machine out and test my creative skills. Our group
projects are always
challenging, both from a quilting viewpoint and our friendship when we have discussions long into the
night over sizes, colours and
design ideas. Fortunately many challenges later we are still going strong!
